The Overlooked Bounty – Free Food
(October 2017) An interactive map called the Overlooked Bounty has been developed by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council to highlight fruit trees and other edible plants in public spaces in the region. The Overlooked Bounty is a collaborative mapping project, providing foragers with the tools to track down and harvest free and nutritious food. The Queanbeyan-Palerang landscape features a variety of edible plants in public spaces, including plums, figs and loquats. With contribution from the community, Council hopes to steadily build a map to link people with the edible food in their neighbourhood. The map will provide the location, the best time of year for harvesting and suggested uses. View the current map at: http://bit.ly/2gFXzoq. Contribute via: http://yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au. |
