Loropetalum chinense ‘Burgundy’
Loropetalum chinense ‘Burgundy’, commonly known as Red Fringe Flower, has rich burgundy foliage and produces bright pink flowers in late winter and spring, with spot flowering throughout the year. This show-stopping variety of Loropetalum grows to around 1.5m high and wide, and has multiple applications in cool climate gardens. This evergreen exotic provides a striking year-round foliage contrast, particularly in proximity to plants with vibrant green foliage. L. chinense ‘Burgundy’ works equally well as a stand-alone specimen or mass planted. L. chinense ‘Burgundy’ (and friends) grows well in a sunny position, ideally protected from hot westerly sun. The soil needs to be well-drained, contain at least moderate levels of organic matter, and be given additional water over prolonged dry periods. |
