Curly Fries, Slinky Style
Most of us are familiar with apple slinky machines and their ability to turn a ‘ho hum’ apple into a sweet novelty food for kids, but did you know they also make the best curly fries in the world in the shortest time you can imagine? Literally just insert, wind, and out comes a ready-made mega chip to impress all and sundry with. I toss mine in salt, pepper, olive oil, and a spice mix such as ras el hanout (I like the one from Herbies spice range), before deep frying or baking in a piping hot oven until golden and delightfully crisp. Slinky fries can be made with good old spuds (peeled or un-peeled) or sweet potatoes, or try using something out of the ordinary like the permaculture staple, Yacon. |
